On October 25, 2011, Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to recommend that the hepatitis B vaccine be given to adults with diabetes. The vaccine series is recommended for unvaccinated adults with diabetes age 60 years and younger; the vaccine may also be administered to unvaccinated adults with diabetes who are older than age 60 years.
